September 17, 1998 - - Eden Pairie, Minnesota. . .Speech Recognition Technologies (SRT) and TeleSonic announce the release of the SRT SpeechStar System, and certification of two exclusive SpeechStar system components designed for automatic transcription of dictation from hand-held recorders.  Developed in conjunction with Philips Pocket Memo recorders, the SpeechStar System components have received the highest-level certification of Dragon Systems, Inc. - the world's leading producer of continuous speech recognition software.  Using the SRT SpeechStar System, doctors, attorneys, case workers and other professionals can dictate their documents at any time and anywhere into Philips recorders and have them automatically transcribed using Dragon systems' award-winning NaturallySpeaking continuous speech recognition software.

The SRT AlphaMic is a premium noise-canceling microphone that plugs into the hand-held recorder to assure clean dictation, screening out background noises.  The microphone assembly was redesigned by removing the headset and greatly shortening the cable between the microphone itself and the plug.  As a result, the overall lenght of the AlphaMic is about two inches - so short that it does not interfere with the ergonomics of the recorder.

The SRT SpeechStar Filter is used during playback of audio tapes to Dragon's NaturallySpeaking continuous speech recognition software.  The Filter cleans the sound as it is played back from the recorder or from a transcriber into the computer's sound card, resulting in a higher recognition rate.  The Dragon NaturallySpeaking software automatically transcribes the dictation on a PC.
