Is Your Computer Ready for Dragon NaturallySpeaking Software?

Free Audio Wizard Available

April 9, 1998- -The Audio Setup Wizard developed by Dragon Systems can be used to test the quality of your existing computer sound board and microphone before you invest in Dragon NaturallySpeaking Deluxe software.

While the Deluxe version of NaturallySpeaking software comes with a high quality microphone, this test may be particularly appropriate for owners of laptop computers.  Many of the sound boards supplied with laptop computers have been installed too close to the power supply systems and are adversely affected by background noise and interference.  Some desktop systems may have the same problem.

One way to test the quality of your sound board before investing in what may be an unnecessary purchase of a replacement board is to install and run a brief Audio test called the Audio Wizard.  This test is included with NaturallySpeaking and DragonDictate software products.  It's also available as a free download from TeleSonic's Web Site.

The Audio Wizard program will run as a "stand-alone" utility as well as an embedded program automatically included with Dragon speech recognition software. The stand-alone version doesn't require Dragon NaturallySpeaking or DragonDictate to be present on your computer.  It is currently designed for users running Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0.

Once you have downloaded the file, double click on "Audio.exe" to start the Audio Wizard.

  1. Click on the file below called "Audio Setup Wizard" to start downloading the "aswupd.exe" file.

  2. Download the "aswupd.exe" file into your "temp" directory (or an empty directory) on your hard drive.

  3. Open Windows Explorer and go to the location where you downloaded the file to and double click on it.  This will extract four files into the directory.

  4. Double click on "Audio.exe" to start the program.
